Dear TCCA Members and Area Cyclists,
At the end of our regular Saturday Group Rides from Indian Riverside Park to Ft. Pierce at approx. 9:30AM on the Jensen Beach Causeway, we will be holding a rally to raise awareness and honor of Mr. Gary Zimmer who was killed while riding over the causeway last Wednesday (2/9). Too many have been killed, injured, or assaulted while riding.
Please spread the word as its very important that we have a large turnout in order to make the maximum impression. Have your friends, spouses, relatives, neighbors, etc., meet us there at 9:30 to show support. Please make and bring appropriate signs such as “Share the Road”, “Yield 3FT – It’s the Law”, etc.
My goal would be to line both sides of the causeway with cyclists and supporters and bicycles end-to-end. This is a peaceful demonstration, and we cannot block traffic in anyway. Be on your best behavior and non-confrontational, as I’m sure there will always be rude comments and gestures made towards us. Please just smile and wave!
I will be notifying the media contacts that I have, but if anyone else knows someone in the media, please share this info with them.
PLEASE, PLEASE, come out and show your support this Saturday (2/19) at 9:30AM on the Jensen Beach Causeway!
